Root Canal Treatment

Restoring Your Natural Tooth With

Root Canal Treatment

If a tooth becomes infected with bacteria, it can often require a specialty treatment called a root canal to save the tooth.

Root Canal

Root canal treatment can be beneficial in many circumstances because:

- It can often be less costly than a full tooth replacement.
- It can help a person to reduce pain and ensure that a cavity will not continue to grow
- It can prevent the worsening of a dental infection that could compromise overall health
- It is a simple procedure that can be carried out in just one visit/

When the nerve of a tooth becomes infected, a successful root canal treatment needs to be performed in order to prevent the tooth from having to come out.

Keeping the tooth in place can prevent other keys from drifting out of line or other types of job problems. Saving the natural tooth by removing the root can also work to prevent the need for the replacement from an artificial tooth or dentures.

Root canal treatment involves removing the infection from the inside of the tooth. When the pulp inside of a tooth is completely removed, the entire root canal system inside of the tooth is filled up effectively killing but strengthening the tooth. The soft dental pulp that makes up the nerves and blood vessels inside a tooth can become infected and this is when they require removal. Without proper removal, the pulp can only become more infected and irritated.

A root canal will not directly protect your choose from other types of damage so you will need to continue with regular dental visits and care for the remaining teeth that you have. In most cases, a tooth that has had a root canal can be saved but without proper care after the root canal, the tooth may need to be extracted.
