What are Clear Aligners?
Clear aligners are orthodontic appliances similar to braces and are made of clear plastic to straighten teeth. They are custom-made to fit your teeth like a glove, gradually moving teeth into the proper position as the treatment progresses. They must be worn for 22 hours to get the desired results.
Clear aligners must be removed during eating or drinking anything except plain water. This is because the plastic can get warped or crack the
aligners under the pressure of chewing, and coloured drinks can stain the aligners.
Please note that not everyone may be a candidate for clear aligners. People with dental bridges, implants, or severe overbite cases may not be able to benefit from aligner treatment. Each case depends on the patient’s requirements, dental condition and medical history.
Types of Clear Aligners we Offer
Our aligner treatment process begins with a consultation to determine if Invisalign is the right treatment for you. If you decide to move forward with Invisalign, we take a 3D digital scan and x-rays to take your teeth impression and create a personalised treatment plan that aligns with your smile goals.
The results are sent to the lab to create a set of aligner trays to last throughout your treatment. Each set must be worn for a couple of weeks before moving on to the next one. Once the trays are ready, they will be checked and fitted on
your teeth by applying tooth-coloured resin buttons to hold them in place. Any adjustments needed will be made to ensure a snug and comfortable fit.
You will start noticing a change in your teeth in a few weeks and may need to come in for adjustments as the previous
set of aligners is disposed of and the new one is fitted. At the end of the treatment, you will be given a pair of invisible retainers to set your newly straightened teeth into place.
