How You Can Transform Your Smile with Cosmetic Dentistry | Boon Dental

At Boon Dental, we believe that everybody deserves a strong and healthy smile that makes them feel confident. Our experienced team is committed to helping you achieve your perfect smile through a range of treatments. In this article, we discuss how you can transform your smile with cosmetic dentistry.

With so many treatments and offers available, it can be hard to know which treatment path is best for you. A consultation with one of our dentists can help you determine the best course of action based on your oral health, lifestyle, smile goals and budget.

Problems Cosmetic Dentistry Can Solve

Cosmetic dentistry can help you restore the appearance of your smile, but also prevent oral health problems. For example, straightening your teeth can lead to improvements in your oral health as well as your digestion, breath and more.

Patients often turn to us for cosmetic dentistry when they’re experiencing one or more of the following issues:

  • Discoloured teeth
  • Gaps between their teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Overcrowding or misalignment
  • Narrow smile
  • Gummy smile

Transform Your Smile with Cosmetic Dentistry

Whether you have a single tooth that needs restoring or want a full smile makeover, our dentists can tailor a treatment plan for you consisting of one or a combination of the following treatments.

Teeth Whitening

As you age, your teeth begin to darken. Years of consuming coffee, tea, wine and other coloured foods contribute to this. But restoring your smile to its former pearly white glory is achievable with professional teeth whitening.

At Boon Dental we offer two types of teeth whitening services. A take-home whitening kit or an in-chair teeth whitening, done at our practices. Both are effective in whitening teeth up to several shades, but the take-home whitening process takes longer. After a thorough oral examination, your dentist will be able to recommend a suitable whitening treatment for you.

Veneers

Veneers are an ideal way to rejuvenate the appearance of your smile. This treatment is often referred to as ‘the celebrity smile’. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain or composite material that cover the front surface of your tooth. They can be used to reshape, resize or realign teeth and even whiten them.

The procedure usually takes place over a few appointments. These appointments include prepping your teeth for the veneers and taking impressions of your teeth. Then, once your veneers are back from the dental lab, placing and securing them. The result is a natural-looking smile you can show with confidence.

Crowns

A crown is a good way to strengthen a tooth that is worn down or damaged, whilst restoring its appearance at the same time. Using a crown, our dentists can improve the size, shape, alignment and colour of your tooth. Do you have chipped or cracked teeth or teeth that have large fillings? If so, a crown may be the treatment option for you.

Your dentist may use a crown to cover your whole tooth, or just to cap the top of it. Crowns are custom-made to perfectly fit and colour-matched to your surrounding teeth. Once your crown has been bonded to your tooth, you’ll have a natural-looking and functioning tooth.

Bridges

Do you have gaps in your smile from one or more missing teeth? Gaps don’t only affect the look of your smile; they can also change the way you can eat and speak. It’s important to consult your dentist about large gaps in your teeth, as they can also affect your bite.

Luckily, there’s no need to worry about missing teeth. With modern dentistry, there are many treatment options available to solve this problem. A bridge is used to bridge the gap over a missing tooth. It gets secured onto the neighbouring teeth, leaving you with a natural-looking full smile.

Dental Bonding

This form of cosmetic dentistry consists of your dentist applying a tooth-coloured resin to your tooth to repair damage. Damage can be in the form of a chip, crack or damage caused by decay, for example. It can also be used to restore a discoloured tooth.

Dental bonding is less expensive than other procedures like veneers and crowns, making it a cost-effective option. It’s simpler than other cosmetic treatments and, in most cases, doesn’t need anaesthetic.

Your dental bonding treatment can usually be carried out in a single appointment. After colour-matching the resin to your surrounding teeth, your dentist will apply it to your tooth and shape it. They will then use a UV light to set it and make any final adjustments.

Invisalign

Gone are the days when the only solution to crooked teeth was a mouth full of metal. Invisalign provides a method of teeth straightening that is convenient and almost invisible! If your teeth are misaligned and it’s making you smile less, Boon Dental can help you.

The Invisalign process involves you wearing a set of clear aligners. Aligners are custom-made trays that fit over your teeth. They slowly and gently move your teeth into alignment. You’ll replace your aligners with a new set every two weeks or so until the end of your treatment.

Aligners are virtually invisible, but they’re also removable. It’s recommended you wear them for 22 hours per day, but you can remove them for eating and cleaning.

Having a straight smile that brings you joy to show to the world is only a step away with Invisalign.

Dental Implants

If you have one or more missing teeth and are looking for a way to transform your smile with cosmetic dentistry, dental implants could be the solution for you. They provide a fully functioning, natural-looking and long-term solution to missing teeth. Whilst the procedure is complex and lengthy, the results can be life changing.

Dental implants are inserted into your jaw, unlike bridges and dentures. Once the insertion sites are well integrated and healed, your false teeth get attached to them. The result is a strong tooth that looks and acts like a natural one.

Unlike dentures that need removing every night, dental implants remain fixed in place.
